KANA MOTA means “Human Mountain” and is the name of a sacred peak in Northern California. We like to think that the mountain itself had a role in the band’s formation, for it tasked Chris Manning (while on a hike) with a very impractical endeavor:
Dust off your bass
Gather your allies
Rise up
Rejoice
And unite your community
Through song
Fortunately, Chris knew that when nature speaks, you listen, and he initiated what you are listening to now. I wasn’t there, but I would say that at a crucial moment, he found an outlet for some beautiful music that had been buried in his soul. I would also say that if you can find the sacred spot in your life, chances are you will, too.
